Our carpet bags use genuine Moroccan kilim panels, hand-cut from vintage-style Berber weavings and finished with leather trim and hardware.

Yes. The kilim fabric is a tightly woven wool textile originally designed to be walked on as flooring, so it holds up well to daily use. Combined with leather reinforcement at the stress points (handles, base, corners), our totes and duffel are built for regular wear, not just occasional styling.
New leather trim and handles can feel a little stiff at first. Carry the bag lightly loaded for the first week or two, and the leather will soften and mold to your grip and shoulder naturally. Avoid soaking or forcing the leather with oils/conditioners early on — let it break in with normal use first.
Because each bag is cut from a one-of-a-kind kilim panel, your bag's exact pattern placement may vary slightly from the product photo — this is part of what makes each piece unique, not a manufacturing inconsistency.
Spot-clean the kilim panels with a dry cloth or slightly damp cloth for small marks — avoid submerging or machine washing. Treat the leather trim occasionally with a leather conditioner to keep it supple. Store the bag stuffed with tissue paper in a dust bag when not in use to help it hold its shape.
The terms are often used interchangeably, but there's a subtle difference. Tapestry usually refers to a more tightly woven, often cotton or blended decorative fabric — commonly machine-made and lighter in weight. Carpet/kilim fabric, like ours, is a heavier flat-woven wool textile traditionally made for flooring, which gives it more structure, durability, and a raised, textured hand-feel. Visually they can look similar, but our bags use genuine wool kilim panels, not tapestry fabric, which is part of why they hold their shape and wear so well over time.
